Last week we visited the newly opened restaurant Vantage situated on the Trident road that has been launched by one of the famous restauranteurs in the city who owns another popular eatery Panna Vilas Restaurant & Lounge near Fatehsagar.

Located in one of the popular hotel & restaurant area, Vantage offers two modern and upbeat dining areas; we chose to seat at the Upper Deck area that offers a panoramic view of the beautiful city, from Lake Pichola & the City Palace on one side to Sajjangarh on the other. 

The moment you settle in the comfortable bucket seats, the first thing you're going to notice is the beautifully lit setting. Usually, the rooftop places are too dark, but here, they have lit up the entire space in such an aesthetic way that you will immediately feel cosy and romantic yet able to see your partner's face.

Coming to the food, the menu is pretty diverse and offers a wide choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes from difference cuisines.

We thought to try their Mughlai dishes. The first thing that we ordered was Yakhni Shorba. A traditional Kashmiri soup that is cooked with goat's meat, bone broth and spiced very lightly. The rich flavour of the broth and the faint smell of the spices is a combination that helps to register its subtle yet unique taste.

The next was Chicken Afghani Tangdi kabab.
They provide it in two types of marination, one the with regular cream & curd base and the other one without cream.
We made a special request (will disclose the reason being 'special' a little later) and they serve both the varieties on a single platter.
The one with cream and curd base was something I liked the most. The little-charred effect on the sides made the chicken a bit crispy on top but juicy and tender inside. The marination was perfect and penetrated the inner layer of the chicken nicely. The other variant that looks like the regular chicken tangdi was good too.

Next dish that we tried was Fish Tikka!
Undoubtedly one of the best that I had in Udaipur so far. The juicy and flaky pieces of locally caught Singhara (a type of fish easy to debone) was perfectly marinated and then cooked in tandoor. Loved the creamy top layer and I must mention the portion size, which is way too better than we find in any of the similar restaurants.

After that, we ordered Galawati Kebab.
Now I don't think there is much to say about the fascinating history of one of the most popular and favourite kebabs of our country. The melt-in-the-mouth delicacy was prepared nicely by the chefs at Vantage, and they serve the kababs on top of similarly small size rotis. And the dish was served with a speciality homemade curd sauce that we liked a lot.

It was a great evening with good food and especially because of excellent hospitality by the restaurant owner Mr Siddhanth Parihar. A young, passionate restauranteur who has spent a significant amount of his time inside and outside kitchen in the F&B industry and have worked with many reputed brands across India.

Being a trained Chef, Mr Parihar developed some really fascinating recipes and tweaked some popular ones with his signature style, and that makes most of the Vantage's dishes a unique one to taste. We had a good chat learning Mr Parihar and his family's contribution to their brands and the restaurants, Panna Vilas and the Vantage both. 

Overall a must visit place if you are craving for good food in a nice setting. Personally I can visit this restaurant umpteenth number just to try those Afghani Tangdis!
